Private wheel clamping, immobilising of vehicles and towing will become illegal from 1st October 2012.
New rules announced by the DVLA, makes it illegal to clamp cars without lawful authority and anyone that does faces criminal charges and a fine.
Certain companies have taken clamping to a new level, clamping everyone from the elderly to police officers, even rescue vehicles.
However, police, local authorities, government agencies and other groups such as railway and airport companies will still be able to clamp vehicles that are illegally parked, so this does not mean drivers can begin disobeying the law.
