Who Can Become a Driving Instructor?
To become a driving instructor you need to have a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points. You need to have held a licence for 3 ½ years. This is the only criteria required other than passing the three qualifying examinations set by the DSA.
Before you can earn money as a driving instructor by law you must pass the required government tests, which are not easy without the proper training. To ensure you receive proper training you should train at a Government Driving Standards Agency approved “ORDIT” driving school-ORDIT stands for the Official Register of Driving Instructor Trainers.
Doing this can be straight forward – apply to take an instructor’s course at Britannia Driving School, an ORDIT approved trainer, and if selected for training become an Approved Driving Instructor or ADI. We will train you to pass the tests and then guarantee you an instructor’s position at Britannia Driving School.

The current hourly rate for a driving instructor at Britannia Driving School is £22 per hour. Multiply it by the number of hours that you intend to work and the results will be a big number.
