DRIVING FROM AS EARLY AS 11 YEARS OLD

The institute of Advanced Motoring are encouraging young people to learn to drive before the legal age of 17. There are companies that provide off-road driving experience to those under the age of 17 and it is felt that this experience will make them safer drivers once they obtain a driving licence.

More often than not it is a lack of experience on the roads as oppose to age that results in accidents occurring. I am sure that even the older driver that has held their licence for less than a year is nervous on the roads and more at risk of being involved in an accident.

But how young should we be letting youngsters get behind the wheel of a car? Some companies offer tuition to those as young as 11 years old. Is this too young, or are we preparing our children to become safe and competent driver’s later in life.
