Driving Test Changes Cause Controversy

Significant changes are being proposed to the driving test, in the aim to prevent novice learner drivers from taking their tests too early – However opponents of the changes argue that this will cause unfair pressure on the test candidates on the day.

The changes involve the idea of requesting a deposit for the driving test, which is only returned to the candidate should they pass the test – But others are saying that the prospect of losing more money on their test will put extra pressure on them.

Other changes suggested include fixed appointment times, designed to reduce waiting times – But this has caused concerns that this will give unfair advantages to learners taking their tests on quieter days or times.
